I'm Rev. Dave. Some of you have been following my Facebook Page called Dave's Hospice Page (Dave's Hospice Page). This page gives us a daily thing to think about, a quote, or a focus point for those who may be struggling.
We live in a world that can seem chaotic. And chaos can be a lonely place to be sometimes. Even when surrounded by people we know and love, isolation can creep in. I want to provide a safe place for folks to visit and, amid chaos, find some calming words.
Yes, I am a Christian pastor. That does not mean I intend to sell you on my brand of faith. As a chaplain, and a spiritual guide, I hope to provide a way for you to find what works for you in the world of spirituality.
Yes, I am a progressive pastor. I intend to avoid getting into the type of conversations leading to division. Just the opposite is true. We can disagree on cultural, social, and even matters of faith and still respect and learn from each other.
For over forty years, I have been honored to walk with people from the peaks of happiness to the deepest valleys of grief and despair. I have sat as parents watched their precious children pass from this world. I have sat as adult children say their words of goodbye to beloved moms and dads. I have looked up from a bed at those I love, not knowing if I would wake up from surgery, hanging on to those faces for as long as possible. I have had medical professionals tell me that I have a condition that will limit my life. I waited and then received a phone call telling me that a family, in the midst of their grief, decided to donate a loved one's organs, and in that moment of death, I was getting another chance at life.
Lesson learned: life is a gift, tomorrow has no guarantee, and pain is inevitable. Yet so is joy. I intend to write about things going on around us all. I will only get some things right. You may not like what I have to say. That is not the point. If we are talking and sharing, we are in a community, and the community is where we can support one another.
Please join me and invite others to as well.
Your quotes have been comforting after losing my 3 loved ones .God bless you
